Wood
Ipe and hardwoods.Gray in a season, or warm for decades.
Ipe and other tropical hardwoods are dense and long-lived, and they turn silver gray within a season of Florida sun. Our members' ipe stays warm and rich, season after season, without ever being sanded back to start over.

What you might be seeing
Silver gray boards
Sun breaking down the surface.
Black spots
Mildew in the shade.
Small cracks
Dry, unprotected wood checking.
Ten, twenty, thirty years from now
Hardwood brought back once and kept never needs to be sanded down and started over. Ten years on, the deck is still the color of the day it was laid.
That is the difference between a surface that looks good the day after and one that lasts. It is easier to keep a house right than to bring one back.
What you never think about again
Off your list
It is on the schedule, every season. You never call, compare or manage anyone, and you never need to be home.
Already ready
Guests this weekend, a holiday, a listing photo. The house is already right, so there is nothing to get ready.

AfterHow membership works
The assessment
Kalen Yeager, our founder, walks the property with you, then assesses every surface on his own. It is complimentary.
The plan
Four Season Membership: four visits a year, one each season, built around how your house weathers. Some homes want more.
The record
Every visit is photographed and kept in one record of the house, so wear reads as a trend and repairs are caught while they are small.
Questions
Can a gray ipe deck be brought back?
Yes. The pool deck at our Island House went from gray to warm on the first visit. Keeping it there is what the membership is for.
