Exterior home care in Ortega.A century of river homes.
Ortega is a peninsula of historic homes between the St. Johns and Ortega Rivers, with many houses from the early twentieth century under some of the oldest oaks in the city. Their materials cannot be bought again. A Freedom Exterior membership keeps every one of them right, so the house is handed on original.
What Ortega asks of a house
Water on both sides
River moisture reaches most of the neighborhood. Shaded walls, screens and docks show it first.
Historic materials
Brick, stucco, painted wood and tile, kept original.
Old oaks
Roofs and gutters under heavy canopy need steady attention.
A membership here
Historic river homes get more frequent, lighter visits built around the materials actually on the house. If a surface should be left alone, we tell you.
A house can carry dozens of different materials on the outside, and every one of them is cared for as its own thing, roof to curb, so it looks right not just the day after a visit but in ten, twenty and thirty years. When we find something that should be repaired, we tell you while it is small, and we can take care of it for you. Repairs are priced separately from membership. How exterior home management works.
How membership works
The assessment
Kalen Yeager, our founder, walks the property with you, then assesses every surface on his own. It is complimentary.
The plan
Four Season Membership: four visits a year, one each season, built around how your house weathers. Some homes want more.
The record
Every visit is photographed and kept in one record of the house, so wear reads as a trend and repairs are caught while they are small.
