Homes on the east side of Ponte Vedra Boulevard take the salt straight off the water. Glass, bronze and paint show it first.
The lagoon side
Homes on the lagoon live with moisture from the water behind them. Shaded walls, docks and screens are where it shows.

A house can carry dozens of different materials on the outside, and every one of them is cared for as its own thing, roof to curb, so it looks right not just the day after a visit but in ten, twenty and thirty years. Every visit is photographed and kept in one record of the house, so wear reads as a trend and repairs are caught while they are small.
